A collection of correspondence, reports, personal narratives, oral histories, photographs and printed matter related to the history of the Women's Air Force Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II. The material gathered by the former WASP, Lt. Col. Yvonne C. "Pat" Pateman, is one of the most comprehensive collections on the history of the WASP. Data reflects the organization, training and operations of the WASP during the World War II and their post-war efforts to obtain Congressional acknowledgment of their contributions to the war effort and the approval of veterans' benefits for former members of the WASP.

LT. Col. Yvonne "Pat" Patemen began her long and successful military career in 1943 when she entered the Army Air Forces and earned her wings as a Woman Airforce Service Pilot (WASP). She was the only WASP to have served in three wars (World War II, Korea, and Vietnam) and retired in 1971 after 22 years as a U.S. Air Force Intelligence Officer.
